Oedipus Rex pt. 2

I will never speak again!

Jocasat realizes that both oedipus' and her porphecy is true and that oedipus is her son. Oedipus continues to ask question clueless to the truth and jocasta begs him to stop so he doesn't learn the truth. when he refuses she says she will never speak again. Oedipus is confused and thinks she won't talk to him becuase the truth of him growing up poor. Due to the shame of jocastas action she kills herself.
Oedipus slowly realizes the truth that he is in fact the killer of Laius when he was thinking of his journey to Thebes and how he killed some man who ran him over with his carriage. Oedipus then gouges his eyes out with brooches so he can no longer see the horror that is his life. Oedipus blames the gods for his life and is mad at them but is taking responsibility for being blind. Oedipus banishes himself fro Thebes and crion is forced to take the throne. The chorus hates Oedipus and wish they were blind from seeing him
