Illness Struck Upon Valley Forge
Arrival of Whilhem Von Steuben
I followed my husband, who was a congressman, into war. We fled Philadelphia and just settled in Valley Forge.
Improvement of the Troops
We have not been here too long and it seems everyone is becoming ill. We women are slaving away, not only with the cooking, mending clothes, and washing, but, now with taking care of the ill.
Battle of Monmouth
A stout Persian man arrived at camp and completely rearranged our camp. He moved our kitchens and introduced this new weapon entitled, the musket. It was rather unusual.
Fighting for Freedom
Since the arrival of Wilhelm Von Steuben, our men have improved exponentially. They have become experts with the musket and our health has improved as well. We are stronger now than we were when we started.
Even though we won the battle, we lost some of our men. My husband included. This truly was a large victory for us, but my heart aches for my love, Benjamin. As much as I have given up for this army, wether it is cooking, cleaning, or assisting the ill, it is not enough. I know what I have to do.
In honor of my husband, I will serve this army to create freedom from the King. This time, by fighting along side my friends and fellow patriots.
