When Cuba rebelled for a second time, they sent 150,000 troops and their best general, Valeriano Weyler to end it. Cubans used yellow journalism to hopefully bring the United States to help them.
No reconcentration camps!
The U.S.S. Maine was a battleship that was in Havana. It exploded in 1898 and killed over 250 American sailors. No one knows what really caused the explosion but they think it was caused by a fire that set off ammunition.

In the Treaty of Paris, it stated that Spain gave the United States the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and the Pacific island of Guam.
