  • The Proclamation of 1763 drew an imaginary line along the Appalachian mountains, which forbade colonists from settling west of the line, protecting the natives in the west. This angered colonists, and they ignored this act and moved west anyways.

  • The Sugar and Stamp acts revised taxes on coffee, tea, sugar, and wine, placed new taxes on legal documents, taxed newspapers, almanacs, playing cards, and all items needed a stamp to show tax had been payed, to help pay the cost of the French and Indian war. This angered many colonists, and hurt the economy.

  • Five British soldiers had fired into an angry crowed on the night of the Boston Massacre. This created more anger throughout the colonies.
  • The Boston Tea Party was when angry colonists threw crates of tea into the Boston Harbor as protest. The British responded with harsh laws.
