  • Gatsby's Parties
  • The Great GatsbyBy, F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • "...on the first night I went to Gatsby's house I was one few guests who had actually been invited. People were not invited-they went there."(page 41) - This is about how Nick was the only one who Gatsby himself invited while other people just came.
  • “There was music from my neighbor’s house through the summer nights. In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars.”(Chaperter 3). This is about Gatsby's parties and how people went in and out all night.
  • Behind the scenes
  • The theme of Appearances versus Reality is shown in the difference between the amount of people that show up every weekend to Gatsby's parties vs the amount of people that are actually friends with him. The people who go to his parties take advantage of his wealth don't even know Gatsby. While Nick is actually friends with Gatsby and is there for him. Only 2 people show up to Gatsby's Funeral and they are Nick and Gatsby's dad. All the other people who worked for him and knew him didn't show because they were not really there for him like Nick. Even the love of his life didn't show. So even though he threw all these parties he only really had one friend.
