Sixth Grade
Son, your uncle has passed away.
What?! No!
I couldn't believe it, he always supported me and my basketball dreams
Seeing my uncle's children at the funeral broke my heart.
I could not stop thinking about him being gone.
For my uncle!
But Playing basketball helped clear my mind.
I was motivated to be great for my uncle.
Everyday, I worked hard and made sure to dedicate every game I played in for my uncle.
A lot of our family separated and my uncle's family moved away to a far city
We would not have as many family reunions anymore
What's wrong?! Are you ok??
Beat. Beat. Hmph.
Coming home from a Clippers game with a friend, I had a panic attack
I can't breathe
The panic attacks would start to happen pretty often
I also had to take a week of school because of my condition
Why did I have a panic attack? I felt like I was going to die..
But, after a week, nothing stopped me from playing basketball.
Wooo!! That's my son!
Squeak. Squeak.
My life was back to normal and everything felt great.
Did you watch the game yesterday?
Yea! It was crazy!
At the end of day, I was just grateful to be with my family.
And remembered to cherish the times you have with your loved ones while you can.
