During this argument Troy had told Rose that he was cheating on her and had a baby with another woman, She said, " I done tried to be everything a wife should be. Everything a wife could be. Been married eighteen years and I got to live to see the day you tell me you been seeing another woman and done fathered a child by her,"(Wilson 67). Rose was so upset because her and Troy had been together for 18 years and he decided that it would be okay to cheat on her and have another child after all those years.

During this scene Cory asked Troy to sign the permission slip for him to play football and Troy said no continuously, Cory asked, " How come you ain't never liked me?" (Wilson 37). Cory asked Troy why he didn't like him because majority of the time Troy is so rude to him and all he wanted Troy to do was sign his paper and he wouldn't even do that.

During this scene Cory was telling Rse he wasn't going to his dad's funeral, He said, "I don't want to be Troy Maxson. I want to be me" (Wilson 97) In this scene Rose was telling Cory he was just like his dad but he was telling her he didn't want to be like him he wants to be his own person.
