Born March 7th 1998 in LA to single mother Joan Wicks Amanda Gorman will be sharing a poem at the inauguration of Joe Biden.
Her Mother was an English teacher and inspired Amanda who was diagnosed with an auditory- processing disorder in kindergarten which makes it hard to pronounce some letters like "r".
Amanda loves poems and here she recites a poem she wrote called The Hill We Climb.
She was so young at the time but she was doing a great thing that changed her life and others.
And so we lift our gaze, not to what stands between us, but what stands before us.We close the divide because we know to put our future first, we must first put our differences aside.
This is very important to say because she had a speech impediment and she had a hard time saying some words but she worked hard and she came out strong and she inspired so many other people who also have a speech impediment
When day comes, we step out of the shade of flame and unafraid.The new dawn balloons as we free it.For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it.If only we’re brave enough to be it.
And when my time comes I will be the one being read a poem in 2036!
The poem that Amanda Gorman wrote was about America. But not only America it tells about how the world and it's people should come together no matter the skin tone, ethnicity, or anything else that separates us. This poem inspired so many for good reason.
