- World War I began in 1914 when the heir to the throne of Austro-Hungary, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was assassinated while visiting Serbia and it was  found that Serbian officials were connected with the assassination.  The United States joined the war effort after Germany had tried to bribe Mexico into invading the United States.

- World War II began in 1939 when Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazi party, blamed Germany's despair on democratic government and on minorities  because they were all fighting for world domination. So, along with the Solviet union, Germany invaded Poland and begun the second World War. The United states joined the war after japan had bombed pearl harbor in Hawaii. 
- The Cuban missile crisis began in October of 1962 when American spy planes found out that Cuba was building bases to store nuclear missiles provided to them by the Solviet Union. The United States stepped in and created a naval blockade around Cuba and then threatened to invade Cuba if missiles were not removed. The solviet union agreed and the united states also removed missiles that were located in turkey. After the two countries set up hotlines between Washington dc and Moscow.
