Odysseus and his men arrive at the island of the Cyclops. They decide to search the land.
They happen to stumble across the Cyclops cave, Polyphemus is nowhere to be found. They entered the cave and ate his food. Odysseus then decides to wait for the giant.
The Cyclops entered the cave and tended to some chores. He then proceeded to poke at the fire. In the glare he saw Odysseus and his men. He proceeded to ask them where they came from.
"We are from Troy [...] We served under Agamemnon[...]It was our luck to come here; here we stand. beholden for your help".
The cyclops did not accept this and made a meal out of two of Odysseus' companions. Odysseus' men were left to wait until morning, mourning for their fellow companions.
The next day, the Cyclops went on to do his chores. He then ate a few more of Odysseus' men. Odysseus found this as a chance of escape. He offered the cyclops wine to "wash down" the scraps of men. When the Cyclops was drunk, odysseus and his men speared the Cyclops' eye making him blind.
Odysseus and his men managed to escape the Cyclops' cave by hiding under the sheep when the Cyclops let the sheep out to graze. Because the Cyclops couldn't see, he swept his hand over everything that left the cave. Odysseus and his men weren't found because they were under the sheep.
