One chilly October morning, Cara and her Aunt began a weekend trip to New York City. They boarded a ferry in New Jersey, and rode across to the big city. Cara had never been to New York before. Her Aunt took tons of pictures.
Does everyone h ave their tickets ready?
After the ferry ride, Cara and her Aunt took a New York taxi to their hotel. In the lobby they were met by Cara's Great Aunt Edna, Great Uncle Joe, and cousin Allie. Cara was so surprised to see all of them!
We have really good seats!
The theater is beautiful!
Once everyone was settled into their hotel rooms, the group went out to walk the city, and see the sights. They visited Rockefeller Center, and the Empire State building. Later that evening, they sat down to enjoy dinner together.
The Statue of Liberty is so tall!
I wonder if we can go all the way up to her crown?
The next morning was still a little chilly, but the sun was shining. After a good breakfast in the hotel, the group went back out into the city for some more sight seeing, and a Broadway show. Cara and Allie live far apart. They were enjoying time together.
Everyone loved seeing Wicked on Broadway! Their seats were third row orchestra, so they were very close to the stage. Cara's Aunt had been waiting a long time to see Wicked. Cara and Allie had never seen a Broadway musical before. It was a great show!
Next on the tour of New York City, and the final stop of the weekend, was the Statue of Liberty. The group had a nice boat tour around the island, before climbing many steps inside the statue herself. Soon after, it was time to say goodbye, and head home from New York City.
