  • alot of africa struggled with their indepndence because some were still ruled by europeans
  • They were also sometimes poor and povrished, and they lacked the information on how to run a country
  • a lot of africa struggled with their independence after WW2
  • Patrice lumumba was the first to rule congo as a self ruling country
  • Belgium, Congos original ruler never taught the natives or anyone on how to rule at all
  • So Patrice Lumumba had no expirence on how to rule
  • Congo won their independence in 1960s
  • Patrice Lumumba was murdered and overthrown in 1961
  • it was only 4 years later in 1965 that general Joseph Mobutu took control, he ruled for another 3 decades trying to the place stabiles
  • mabey congo should have tryed to gain the US help sooner
  • And Belgium should have given them some leadership help
  • Instead of Belgium leaving Congo in the dust they could have at least gave them some information on how to be a leader
  • If they were to get the US attention sooner they could have helped fight against earlier communism and mabey even provide some schooling so congo could have lead better sooner
  • There is not that many schools and not many that would teach how to rule a country in congo
  • some issues that caused african nations struggle are the rulers just leaving them with little to no experience
  • I do believe that these problems exist today, maybe just not as often
