- Reason #1The Unmoved Mover
- Everything in the universe exists (or moves) because of the actions of something that existed in the past. There must have been something that set everything in motion, and that must have been God!
- Sorry but physics says no. Rest is as natural as movement in the universe, you're also failing to acknowledge a need for absolute frame of reference. Nice try tho
- Reason #2First Cause Argument
- But not every event has a cause. We know infinity and negative numbers exist, so there is no basis in this causality
- Well what about the domino effect? For everything occurring around us, there had to have been an uncaused event that started it all. Whatever exists today exists because of something that existed before it, so God must have been the first cause of our existence!
- Ok fine, but at one point, nothing existed, and because things that exist can only come after other things have existed, even right now, nothing exists, but this is false. Something must exist of which the existence is necessary. This being, God, has its own necessity so it must have caused the necessity of all men.
- Why must we conceive God? Why can't the universe just exist? After all, humanity knows very little about the universe.
- Reason #3God is Necessary
- But not everything exists on a continuum, and your definition of "goodness" is based on only what you've experienced. So neither you nor anybody else can objectively evaluate the world.
- Reason #4God, Absolute Being
- But there exists gradations in things: everything can be judged on a spectrum. So naturally, on the spectrum of morality and goodness, mankind must rank pretty low, while there has to be something at the other end which is sublime: this must be God!
- But my friend, why didn't the universe just pop into existence? What makes design more probable than pure random chance?
- Reason #5God, Grand Designer
- Let this matter rest. Where be your mini-fridge?
- *Sigh* The behavior of the universe implies a grand designer. There must be some director of all things in this world, and that director must be God. Do be polite in your objection.
