Originally Old English was a group of several languages, reflecting the varied origins of the Anglosaxons kingdoms of England.
And the second one was from the Normans, in the 11th century, who spoke Old Norman and developed a variety of English. That conqueer some Scandinavian territories.

The original Old English language was later influenced by two invasions: the first was by speakers of the Scandinavian branch of the Germanic languages, who conquered and colonized some parts of Britain.
