This scene shows the difficulties that Salva has faced such as immense heat (sweating) and the lack of water (drought). it affects his way of living as he doesn't have easy access to basic needs that people must have in order to live. this can make him either weak and fragile or strong and brave.

The time period affects the character because he is in war. the war brings Salva a negative impact on his health, constant fear of his death and others, he will most likely have trauma from the war and there are harsh living evnviroments making it more difficult to live a healthy life.

Here we see Nya getting water from the river but we cannot see all the obstacles that she had to go through like going through the harsh environment while having to carry the buckets there and then filled wit h water back and the fact that she had to go the whole trip most likley without proper shoe wear. Nya has strong positive character traits as seen by her actions. She's a very resilliant, independant, and responsible character.
