Toiminnan Yleiskatsaus
Viestintä on yksi avaintekijöistä terveessä suhteessa. Valitettavasti nuorille tämä ei yleensä ole heidän vahvin taito. Opiskelijoilla voi olla vaikea ajatella mitä he sanovat ennen kuin he sanovat sen. Sanotun muuttaminen voi olla vaikeaa, mutta teini-ikäisten opettaminen sanomaan, mitä he ajattelevat, on realistinen tavoite. Yksi tapa tehdä niin on ottaa käyttöön I-lausunnot.
Kun joku yrittää päästä käskynsä läpi ja puhuja sanoo ”jatkat tekemällä tätä” tai “jatkat sanomalla”, se pakottaa kuuntelijan olemaan väärässä. Tämän jälkeen kuuntelija jatkaa puolustamista ja ampuu usein takaisin. Tämä ei ole tehokas tapa kommunikoida. Vaihtamalla yksinkertaisesti viestinnän kohti itseään "ajattelen ...", "tunnen ..." ja "haluan ...", kuuntelija kuulee sitten, mitä heidän toimintansa tekevät toiselle henkilölle. Tässä toiminnassa opiskelijat käyttävät I ... -lauseita kommunikoidakseen tehokkaasti annetussa skenaariossa. Heidän skenaario ja ratkaisu olisi suoritettava positiivisen lopputuloksen varmistamiseksi. Ainoat solut, joita opiskelijat luovat, ovat I-lauseet.
