Building upon the last storyboard activity “Family Vocabulary”, this storyboard activity describes each member of the chosen family more comprehensively. Here the student must put the family vocabulary in context, as well as describe each member’s physical attributes and what they like to do. This activity helps students review previously learned material like gustar, ser, activity vocabulary, and personality adjectives. It also provides a fun opportunity for them to look up and learn new terms.
For this storyboard, have students select the grid layout. In the first column, students will place one family member from whose perspective the other relationships will be described. Each subsequent column heading should state the relationships in the column as related to the family member in the far left column. In each cell, have students include text bubbles for the family members to introduce themselves, including their relationship to the member in the first column.
Students will also write short descriptions of personality and physical attributes in first person for each cell. The last section in each cell is for a first person account of the family member’s hobbies. Upon completing this storyboard, students will have had the opportunity to interrelate family members and practice this relationship vocabulary from various perspectives. They also will have reviewed previous lessons in an associative manner.

Start by pre-teaching key family terms with visuals and repetition. Use flashcards, images, and real-life examples to help students connect words to meaning. Revisit these frequently in short, engaging bursts.
Demonstrate how to begin sentences such as 'Mi madre es...' or 'Le gusta...'. Show examples on the board and encourage students to use these starters when describing family members to build confidence and accuracy.
Organize quick partner or small group games like matching, charades, or bingo with family vocabulary. This makes repetition fun and reinforces learning through social interaction.
Play short audio clips or videos featuring native speakers using family terms in context. Pause for choral repetition to give students a chance to practice pronunciation and intonation.
Give exit tickets, quick quizzes, or have students orally describe a family member at the end of class. This helps you identify gaps and celebrate progress in a low-pressure way.
Start by introducing basic family vocabulary in Spanish, then use engaging activities like storyboards where students describe each family member's physical traits, personality, and hobbies. This allows students to put vocabulary in context and practice using ser, gustar, and adjectives in first person.
A Spanish family profile storyboard activity is a visual project where students create a grid to represent different family members, describing each one's attributes, relationships, and interests in Spanish. It helps reinforce vocabulary and grammar in a creative, student-centered way.
Students should review family relationship terms, physical and personality adjectives, the verbs ser and gustar, and activity vocabulary to effectively describe family members in Spanish profiles.
Have students choose a family member for the first column, then label each subsequent column with another relative's relationship to that person. In each cell, students use text bubbles to introduce and describe each family member, including hobbies and traits, all in first person Spanish.
Storyboard activities provide context for vocabulary, encourage creative thinking, and help students practice grammar and speaking skills. They make learning interactive and allow students to personalize content, enhancing retention and engagement.
