Kao i kod većine romana, Candide pruža izvrstan izvor za jačanje gramatike i jezičnih vještina. Posebno, priča sadrži toliko mnogo prizora u kojima likovi pričaju priču da postoji posebna izloženost uporabi nesavršene i preterite. Upotrijebite naraciju romana kako biste riješili razlike između jednostavnog i jednostavnog. Jednostavan način da to učinite jest da učenici povuku rečenice iz knjige koja koristi određeni dan. Za ovaj zadatak, usredotočit ćete se na nesavršen dan u Candideu . Na jednoj sceni, pronađite tri različite rečenice koje sadrže glagol konjugiran u imparfait. Zatim izradite ploču s tri ćelije. Zapamti da se imparfait koristi za sljedeće situacije:
- Prošli događaji bez određene završne točke
- Ponovljene / redovite akcije u prošlosti
- Fizički ili emocionalni opisi (vrijeme, vrijeme, dob, osjećaje itd.)
- Pozadinski događaj koji se prekida novom pojavom
- Želje ili prijedlozi
- Uvjeti u "si" klauzulama (Si ... imparfait ... conditionnel)
