Cinder è una cyborg di sedici anni che vive a New Beijing, la città futuristica del Commonwealth orientale, con le sue sorellastre e la sua orribile matrigna. - Cinder lives with her horrible stepmother and her two stepsisters. Peony, the youngest, shows caring and kindness towards Cinder, but she dies from letumosis. Because Cinder is a cyborg, people dislike her and are afraid of her, even though they may not know her. Cinder longs for a connection with someone.
