Our country has so many wonderful places to visit, and postcards are a fun way to let others know about where you’ve been! Using the template provided, students will create a postcard from a Southeast tourist attraction. The written part must include at least one fact about the attraction, and the picture must accurately depict the location.

Student Instructions
Introduce the activity to students first and inform them of the objectives and what is expected of them. Teachers can give other details such as essay length, writing style, and outlines as well. Guide the students throughout the process and foster creativity by encouraging the students to determine the elements of their essays by themselves.
Ask the students to pick a place they want to write an essay on. The place should be specifically from the Southeast region but if the students are not familiar with the region or have never visited any tourist sites in this region, they can pick any other place they like or have visited before. Encourage the students to pick a site they have visited before so they can talk from experience.
Encourage the students to include the historical significance of the place in the essay. Tourist spots are famous for many things, but they have a rich history and are significantly popular because of this history. Teachers can provide some material to help students with this research according to their chosen places.
To help the reader see and connect with the appeal, use vivid language wherever possible. To make the essay more interesting, encourage sensory descriptions. Students can use their personal experiences to shape this part of the essay by using different elements of language.
Discuss with your students what visitors may anticipate from the attraction. Information on tours, displays, and interactive features can be included. Students can write an engaging essay by helping the readers imagine what they would experience as visitors to this place.
The rich natural beauty of the Southeast is well known. The Great Smoky Mountains, Everglades National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Okefenokee Swamp are a few well-known tourist destinations. If students have not visited these sites, they can look up pictures and videos of the places to familiarize themselves with these attractions.
There are vibrant artistic communities in cities like New Orleans (Louisiana), Charleston (South Carolina), and Asheville (North Carolina), and there are many galleries, theaters, and cultural events in these cities. These art scenes incorporate the culture of the region and provide the viewers with a new perspective to look at things.
