Classroom community is essential, especially when students are learning to communicate in a new language. In this activity, students will share about themselves in an All About Me spider map as they practice English!
They will create illustrations and descriptions to answer the prompts about themselves: their name, favorite subject in school, family, favorite animal, favorite color, and favorite book. Teachers can include more than one template and customize the prompts to fit their students needs and interests. After students are done, they can present to the class or a small group.

Adapt your 'All About Me' lesson for virtual or hybrid settings by using digital spider map templates and online presentation tools. Students can complete their maps using shared documents or interactive platforms, and share with classmates via video calls or discussion boards. This approach helps keep classroom community strong, even at a distance.
Demonstrate how to fill out one or two prompts on the spider map using your own information. Showing a sample helps students understand expectations and gives them the confidence to get started with their own responses.
Encourage students to think about their favorites, family, and interests before starting. Offer guiding questions or a short class discussion to help spark ideas and make the activity more meaningful.
Provide helpful vocabulary lists and example sentence starters for each prompt. This scaffolding boosts confidence and ensures every student can participate, no matter their English proficiency level.
Showcase finished spider maps by creating a virtual gallery or class slideshow. Allowing students to present or comment builds pride and strengthens classroom connections.
