Activity Overview

A person’s family says a lot about who they are and why they have accomplished what they have. Their family life is often dependent on where they live or when they grew up. For this activity, students will create a storyboard about their person’s family, both past and present. The finished product can be used as the base for a larger biography project, and makes a great tool to organize information as they're researching!

How to Place Information into Chronological Order

1

Discuss Chronological Order with Students

Lead a discussion with students about time and how things happen in a certain order. When discussing family life in a biography, putting information in chronological order makes the most sense.

2

Have Students Practice With Their Own Family Life

To help students more fully grasp the concepts, use their own life to help them understand time. Discuss their own birth, the birth of siblings, and other major life events to explain chronology.

3

Create Headings and Illustrations

Create headings to mark important events and moments in a biography and add a short summary to show further understanding of the event.
