- The night was cold and wet. Mr. White family are watining for an vistor. Father and son were at chess. ¨Hark at the wind said Mr. White, who having seen a fatal mistake after it was too late, was amiably desirous of preventing his son from seeing it. Ah sketch and out of his hand, check, mate.
- Climax
- Mr. White reminds Morries of a strange "Monkey Paws" he required in india. An old fakir was said to have enchanted it to grant three separate wishes. Mr. White gladly accepted it, but Morries expressed his displeasure, claiming that it had caused him problems.
- Falling Action
- Morris tosses the monkey paw into the pit of fire and Mr. White save the monkey paw. Mr. White makes his first wish, which is for a sum of £200. A loud crashing noise is heard, and the paw moves unexpectedly. Herbet was caught in the machinery at work and died the next day, according to the white family.
- Resolution
- When Mr. White's wish came true, he was shocked, and he was heartbroken over the loss of their only son. Mr. White persuades Mr. White to wish Herbert would come back to life. Mr. White discovers the paw and makes a wish: a persistent knocking at the door occurs.
- The knocking on the door becomes increasingly loud. Mr. White rushes to the door to let Herbet in, but he holds her back because he is aware of the monkey paw's wickedness. She manages to break free and sprint to the door, but she is unable to reach the bolt. Mr. White frantically searches for the paw.
