When Frederick Douglass met Mrs.Auld for the first time he described her as a woman with the kindest heart and the finest feelings. She treated Douglass like this because she was never a slaveholder. Douglass was completely astonished was he noticed the was Mrs.Auld was treating him.

When Douglass would be sent on errands he would look for these three little white boys,and he would convert
"You will be free as soon as you turn 21." said the little white boys from the street. But in Douglass's mind he knew that he was going to be a slave for life. Douglass was so grateful for the liveliest sympathy that these boys would show for him.
