  • We finally beat the Etruscan so we should create a republic where only the rich have power.
  • Well, it's their fault they should have given us more power. Well it's time to leave son.
  • The RIse of the Roman Republic A Plebians's Perspective By: Nickson
  • The Patricians should not be able to change this at will.
  • In 509 B.C.E. the Romans overthrew the Etruscan. Then created a republic. A republic is a form of government where the leaders are elected to represent the people. But unfortunately, at that time, only the rich had power. So people like us which are the plebians did not have any power.
  • There is going to be a new law that states that plebians can now also be senators.
  • In 494 B.C.E. Rome was a city with tons of people. Most of the population was plebian. However, we were angry over our lack of power the so we marched out of the city. But since we were the ones doing the work and since there were none of us left the Patricians had to let the us have power so the Patricians had to compromise.
  • After 200 years of struggle our fight for equality is over .
  • Yay
  • Yes
  • Around the year 451 B.C.E., we demanded that the laws be transcribed, or written down so that the patricians couldn't change them at will. This is because even though we had power it still wasn't equal to the Patricians. So the patricians agreed, and the laws were published on tablets called the Twelve Tables. Now the patricians could not change it.
  • In the year 367 B.C.E, there was a new law. The new law was that one of the two consuls must be a plebian. Former consuls held seats in the senate. So that meant that on now people like us could also become Senators.
  • In the year 287 B.C.E., we had earned the right to pass all laws for all Roman citizens. Now we could accept or reject laws. We could also nominate the consuls, the tribunes, and the members of the senate. After 200 years of struggle we had won our fight for equality.
