- The narrator is introduced. He tries to prove his sanity despite having killed a man.
- Climax
- The narrator lives in the same house as the guy he killed who has a disturbing eye.
- Falling Action
- For the next 8 days the narrator plots on killing the man to get rid of the eye.
- Resolution
- One evening the old man wakes up and screams. The narrator pulls the man off his bed and wacks him with an axe.
- The police arrive after hearing the scream. The narrator tries to cover it up by saying it was him that screamed and the old man was gone.
- The narrator believes he hears the old mans heart beating and kept getting louder and louder. He ends up confessing that he killed the man.
