- they continue to walk and talk together then suddenly Clarisse says, "you know, im not afraid of you at all"
- Montag then says, "why should you be."
- she looked over at him and asked, " why are you laughing" " i don't know" he started to laugh and stopped. "why" "you laugh when i haven't even been funny and you answer right off you never stop to think what i have asked you"
- Clarisse continues to talk about things that Montag doesn't seem to know any thing about.
- Clarisse talks a lot about her uncle. He seemed to influences her.

- she laughing at this. "Goodnight!" she started up her walk. Then seemed to remember something and came back and looked at him with wonder and curiosity." Are you happy?" she asked.
