- At age 5, Oliver tries to make friends to play with by being funny, so he takes initiative and strikes up a conversation with Jack and Sally. Although, Oliver jokes around, but Sally did not like the joke and found it rather mean.
- Initiative vs. Guilt
- THAT WAS VERY MEAN!
- Sally starts to cry because of the mean joke, so Jack defends his sister, Sally. Oliver didn't realize that the joke was mean and starts to feel guilty.
- I'm so bad. I'm a meanie. I didn't mean to make her cry.
- From this social interaction, Sally and Jack leave Oliver behind, sad and alone. Oliver negatively develops a feeling of guilt and starts to think he's bad.

- Test Scores Handed Back Today
- In chemistry class, Oliver who is now 12 years old, has been notified to stay back after class with his friend Jonathan. Oliver begins to feel nervous by noticing his teacher being serious.
- Nah, I don't think so man.
- Oliver and Jonathan please stay after class
- Industry vs. Inferiority
- Oliver's chemistry teacher, Mrs. Fritz, explains that the both of them had the lowest scores on the chemistry quiz and need to study more. Oliver begins to feel sub-par.
- Oh shoot, I must not be capable and smart enough.
- Test Scores Handed Back Today
- Listen boys, you guys are great students, but you guys did not do well on the test! Please try to study more next time.
- Oliver and Jonathan please stay after class
- An A+?! I wish I got an A+. I feel like such a failure. Everyone is so much better than me.
- After Oliver's meeting with Mrs. Fritz, he overhears his two classmates talk about the chemistry quiz. He overhears that they aced the quiz and Oliver begins to feel inferior and compares his score to their scores.
- Yay! We both passed the chemistry test with an A+! Go us!
