Salva is introduced at school learning Arabic. He is day dreaming about playing with cows at home. He was introduced with thoughts of his family. There isn't anything exciting going on at this point.
Salva and his classmates were hearing gunshots which were coming from the rebels. The rebels had been doing this because they were fighting for freedom of religion. Their professor had told them to run to the "Bush" to get away.
Salva is captured by the rebels and is put in a camp. He tries to join the men group but the soldiers put him in the group of woman, children, and elders. He is worried about losing his family and if they are still alive
Salva and his group are crossing the desert. They are running low on water and are slowly dying in the heat. Many people are left behind and would eventually die of dehydration
Salva and his group are getting close to the refugee camp. Salva's uncle had been in the war recently and he was able to keep his gun. While camping, men had come up on their group and taken everything they needed and even killed Salva's uncle with his own gun. Salva had lost his only family member he had seen in many years.
After many refugee camps, Salva had been chosen to go to America. Here he is getting on the plane to finally get to go to America
