- A winter at Valley forge was very complicated with very few supplies but some where able to remain very well fed and well dressed.Also in winter it also benefited them without the arrival of Baron Fried rich Wilhelm Von Steuben.who who imply a new training spot which would transformed the men into inexperienced solders to discipline solders who would know how to fight the British

- washingtons army moved south from New Jersey to defend the capital of Philadelphia. on September 11 Washington was decisively defeated, leading the Continental Congress to flee the city. For his winter encampment, Washington selected Valley Forge on the Schuylkill River approximately 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
