- As I wished, it twisted in my hand like a snake!
- Well, I don't see the money, and I bet I never shall.
- Climax
- Has anything happened to Herbert?
- Sergeant-Major Morris introduces the Whites to the magical Monkey' s Paw before leaving them with it.
- Falling Action
- We'll have one more. Go down and get it quickly, and wish our boy alive again!
- The family makes their first wish, which is for 200 pounds.
- Resolution
- For God's sake don't let it in!
- The family finds out the next day that they have been compensated 200 pounds for their son, Herbert's, death.
- He is badly hurt, but not in any pain.
- During the night, Mrs. White convinces Mr. White to use the Monkey's Paw to wish Herbert alive again.
- Good God, you are mad!
- When there is a knock at the door, Mrs. White hurries to get the door unlocked and open, while Mr. White scrambles to get the Monkey's Paw to make one final wish.
