- American believed that the border should be put at the Rio Grande While Mexico believed it should be at the Nueces River up to the North. So the U.S. sent troops to guard their land.
- The border goes at the Nueces

- The president of the U.S. Annexes Texas and Mexico is not happy about it. This is because they have not accepted that Texas has its independence.
- Texas still belongs to us they are not apart of the U.S..
- The Mexican army attacked the Texas army between the two rivers of the border dispute.
- The new land started a debate over whether the states should be slave of non slave-states.
- It needs to be a slave state
- It should be a free state
- The U.S. nearly doubled in size from the land gained in the Treaty of Hidalgo. However it caused a debate on which states should get the land.
- This land is ours now.
- The U.S. granted 115,000 Mexican people citizenship after Mexico gave them the land.
- You have been granted citizenship into the U.S.
