- The assailant is still unknown to this day
- In 1994 under the cover of war a plane carrying the Rwandan president was shot down by an unkown assailant the president of that time, juvenial habyarimana was Hutu which gave the Hutu an opurtunity to blame the Tutsi
- He was replaced by Théodore Sindikubwabo and eventually Pasteur Bizimungu, and both of them were Hutu.
- Within the first week of the genocide happening, western nations deployed troops to Rwanda and Burundi.They evacuated the citizens that they could and then left.
- This gave the Hutu extremists an excuse/opportunity to launch a plan to destroy the Tutsi population
- Meanwhile the Tutsi rebels were able to capture the capital saving all of the remaining people that had been captured because of their advanced knowlodge of warfare and weaponry
- the way the Hutu extremists carried out their plan was by escorting the Tutsi people to camps and eventually killing them and taking over the country of Rwanda

- The Tutsi rebel movement began to save people and take over the camps where other Tutsi where being captured and killed
- i learned this from the clinton presidential libraries.
- The UN mission (UNAMIR), created in October 1993 to keep the peace and assist the government transition from Habyarimana to the next president in Rwanda who was also Hutu, They sought to intervene between the killers and civilians.
- We have saved everyone!
- To this day there are many memorials to reflect on the Rwandan genocide so that history doesnt repeat itself
- There are multiple memorials around the world but the main one is located in the capital of Rwanda, Kigali
- The genocide lasted almost 100 days and and in total almost 800,000 people died..
