- Walter Cunningham is a scientist and astronaut in the Apollo program. He was a fighter pilot and a physicist. Walter was a civilian astronaut. He is now a retired astronaut.

- Micheal DeBakey is a world renowned cardiac surgeon. While he was in the military, he helped develop Mobil Army Surgical Hospitals. He also helped develop Veterans Administration Medical Research System. He was a pioneer in the development of the artificial heart and was the first to use an artificial heart pump.

- Denton Cooley is an American heart surgeon, famous for performing the first implantation of a total artificial heart.

- Benjy Brooks was the first woman to become a pediatric surgeon in Texas. In her work she conducted work on congenital defects, burn treatment, spleen reparation and the prevention of hepatitis.
