- While Simon was waiting for his boat to take him back to Britain, Simon explains to the family, Simon explains, "I heard patrol coming, so I decided to try and make it on my own, but at some point I took a wrong turn. When i doubled back that's when they found me. (Gratz 212)"

- While Simon is running from the Nazi's one little Nazi boy caught him, and stabbed Simon, Simon explains "one of the boys cornered me in a ally, I had my pistol but he was just a boy, he had a dagger and didn't seem to have any resevervation of using it on me. Simon puled his hand away from his stomach and his shirt and hand was covered in blood (Gratz 213)."
