- France had an economic crisis, the french was deep in debt. but the upper class kept using the money for non-important things. the peasant's majority of the population couldn't afford bread. they wanted to vote by heads and they wanted to lower taxes.

- after the revolution, slavery ended and Haiti became an independent country. Toussaint L'Ouverture passed away after being arrested by Napolean's army.
