  • Great question! Plants get energy and nutrients through the process of photosynthesis.
  • Miss Malark... how do plants get their energy and nutrients?
  • All the plants you see here go through photosynthesis. The reactants, meaning what needs to go into the plant in order to go through photosynthesis, are water, carbon dioxide, and sunlight.
  • Glucose and oxygen are made from photosynthesis, these variables are called products. Unlike animals plants are autographs because other organisms eat plants to get their energy.
  • Then what come out, and what is that called?
  • A light dependent reaction is what captures energy from the sunlight and is able to convert it to oxygen and release it. This reaction is also called the Calvin Cycle.
  • The plant is able to store this energy through the chloroplasts which is made up of chlorophyll that helps the plant absorb up all of sunlight. All plants contain chloroplasts, and all chloroplasts contain a thylakoid which stores energy and transfers it to a chemical form. Then the stroma surround the thylakoids.
