Storyboard Text

  • Kill all the newborn baby boys shall cast into the river, and every daughter shall live.
  • The birth of Moses would mark the beginning of God's plan to free his people from 400 years of Egyptian slavery. The Hebrew people became so numerous in Egypt that Pharaoh began to fear them. He believed if an enemy attacked, the Hebrews might ally themselves with that enemy and conquer Egypt.
  • Pharaoh ordered that all newborn Hebrew boys must be killed by the midwives to keep them from growing up and becoming soldiers.
  • I'll name you Moses because I drew you out of the water.
  • After Moses was born, his mother decided to send him down the river to avoid being killed by Pharaoh. Moses eventually ends up near the Pharoah's daughter. She notices Moses and decides to raise him.
  • At the time, Pharaoh's daughter was bathing in the river. She had one of her handmaidens bring her the basket when she saw it. When she opened it, she discovered the baby crying. She took pity on him, knowing he was one of the Hebrew children, and planned to adopt him as her son.
  • Pharaoh's daughter named the child Moses, which means drawn out of the water in Hebrew and was close to the word for son in Egyptian.
