Storyboard Text

  • Gunpowder was made on accident during the Tang Dynasty, when someone mixed 75 parts of saltpeter, 10 parts sulfur, and 15 parts charcoal when an explosion happened to an open flame.
  • They would stuff gunpowder into bamboo sticks and when lit, it would explode out of the holes in bamboo, due to the overheating. The fireworks also brought hope to the society, they were thought to warn off the evil spirits in Ancient China.
  •  Fireworks may be bad for the environment however, they are a symbol of pride and happiness for a country. Fireworks bring joy to people and also provide jobs for the manufactures, traveling companies, business, etc. Fireworks are used across the globe to celebrate all sorts of different events, just like in Ancient China when they were thought to warn off evil spirits.
  • Fireworks do have negative impacts on society. Nowadays fireworks contain harmful chemicals for the environment that can fall into lakes and rivers where fresh water can come from. Also, fireworks are potentially dangerous to people who are lighting them, were used as harmfulweapons in Ancient China.
  • In Ancient China they attached a tube of burning gunpowder to an Arrow. The mini rockets sent waves of terror to men and horses as the arrows soared through the air. They used this against their energy, the Mongols.
