- LAND AHEAD!
- Christopher Columbus requests the Crown to finance his trip. They agree to pay under some terms, which include them receiving 20% of the profits. The crew was mostly composed of released prisoners.

- La Pinta, La Niña, and La Santa María head off to the sea but currents diverged them to the West Indies. They were lost in the sea for about 2 months.
- I FOUND THE LAND!
- THE LAND BELONGS TO ME BECAUSE I'M CLOSER
- One explorer, Rodrigo, saw land and greatly relieved Christopher Columbus. They landed in one of the islands of the Bahamas. One ship, the Santa María is damaged by a storm and they use the remains to build a temporary settlement called "La Navidad"

- Christopher Columbus comes back with plants, animals, and natives from the New World and secures funding for future expeditions.
- Spain and Portugal have a disagreement over who should own the lands because Spain discovered them but Portugal was closer to them.
- The Pope intervenes in the conflict and they end up settling for a division of land and signed a treaty called the Treaty of Tordesillas.The line was about halfway between the Cape Verde and the islands discovered by Christopher Columbus.
