Storyboard Text

  • I will help you in any way I can
  • There is a blight that eats the budding fruits of the earth. Our cattle die. Women give birth to stillborn children. A deadly plague consumes our city, strikes like bolts of lightning, burns our flesh, and ravages the house of Cadmus
  • Where are the killers? How, after so many years, can we find a clue to solve the crime?
  • Apollo said the killer is amongst us. We must search and be aware of everything
  • This is my answer: since you mocked my blindness, know that though you have eyes you cannot see how low you have fallen. You do not know in whose house you live, no, nor with whom. Who is your father, who is your mother? You do not know. In ignorance you live as an enemy to the living and the dead. But the curse of your parents one day will drive you wounded from this land.
  • There is a plague that is killing cattle, eating fruits, and causing children that are barely born to be stillborn.
  • I have no longing for the name of king. I prefer to live like one. Any sensible man would feel the same way. All my needs, all that I want, you provide. IBut if I were king I would have to do things which I did not want. So why should I seek the crown rather than the pleasant, untroubled life I now lead?have nothing to fear.
  • Something is causing the misfortuneand needs to be found and expelled from Thebes. Apollo commands that they find Laiu's killer. The murder of the king is what has brought misfortune
  • The word was that Laius would die at the hand of his own son ... my child and his. Laius ... at least this was the story ... was killed by highwaymen in broad daylight. He was killed where three roads meet. We had a son, but when he was only three days old Laius pierced his ankles, left him on a hill to die. He gave the child to others, of course, to do this. We knew then that Apollo had changed the course of fate. The son would never kill his father. The terror of the prophecy would die there on the hills. That is what the prophet said, my king.
  • Since Teiresias won't tell Oedipus who killed the king he won't let him home and angrily and frustrated he blames and, or accuses him of murdering the king. Leading to Teiresias "accusing" him as well and telling harsh things.Teiresius then proceeds to tell Oedipus that he is both brother and father to his children, husband and son to his wife, and killer of his father.
  • You used the word “highwaymen.” He said that highwaymen had killed the king. If he still speaks of several killers, then I was not the murderer. I was alone. There was no one else. But if he says there was only one, my guilt is inescapable
  • Oedipus then accuses Creon of betrayal and of conspiring with Teiresias to overthrow the throne. Creon then tells them that he can prove them wrong. Then Oedipus wants him dead.
  • The men refuse to give Jocasta the details of the disagreement. Finally, Oedipus tells her that he believes Creon plotted to take Oedipus from his throne and accused Oedipus of murdering Laius. Once the queen learns of Teiresias’s prophecy, she blames the prophet.Oedipus encourages Jocasta to tell him all the details. Oedipus grows worried when he hears details of Laiu's murder. He asks to speak to the surviving witness who left when he found out that Oedipus was to be king. The story is that several people killed the king, not one.
  • The king and queen of Corinth are Oedipus's parents, so he thinks. They tell him that people who say he is not their son are lying. Oedipus always suspected they were not his parents. So he leaves when he is told by Apollo he will kill his father and marry his mother. That's when he travels to Thebes. Oedipus did kill a man and his companions where three roads met while traveling to Thebes. He worries this was laius. If the witness says there was more than one attacker, then Oedipus is cleared . They wait for the witness that was with the king when he died.
