- They fell in love as kids. Then they grow up and end up being together. They get married and have high hopes for life. Barnum wants to give Charity a great life. So the song is about have they have so many dreams together.

- Barnum's "freaks" were nervous to go out and perform for everyone, so he encouraged them to go. He also shoved a pillow up a fat mans shirt to make him look bigger than what he was. But eventually he encouraged all of them to go out.

- Carlyle is in love with Anne but they can't be together because of what Carlyle's parents think. Also because Anne has a lot going on with life and the circus. So she feels like they just can not make it work at the moment.

- Jenny Lind sang and Barnum watched. When she was finished he had a big smile on his face because he knew that she could make him a lot of money.
- Barnum felt like there was no hope for the circus. And all of the "freaks" came in there singing and dancing. They all told Barnum how much the circus meant to0 them and that the circus was their only hope. And they are all like a big family.
- Barnum hands his hat and the circus over to Carlyle, so that Barnum can focus on his wife and family. Carlyle and Anne end up together. And the circus lived on.
