Now, Columbus was still able to convince King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella about his plan. He wasn't crossing the Atlantic Ocean to see the Native Americans, he was crossing to find gold. He was very violent to the Native Americans, He did many horrible things to the adults and also to the children.

Columbus treated everybody unfairly. He treated them like slaves. If they didn't do something they would get brutally punished. Columbus was a very cruel man that we celebrate because of the things we thought he did.
