George and Hazel are watching ballerinas on the tv, George notices that some of the ballerinas are wearing handicaps too until his handicap goes off. Since Hazel is not handicapped she does not remember why she is crying.
While watching television, a news bulletin interrupted their broadcast announcing that Harris Bergeron, genius and athlete, escaped from jail under suspicion of trying to overthrow the government.
Harrison breaks into the studio and starts telling everyone that he is their emperor. Harrison takes off his handicaps throws them on the ground and asks someone to step up and be his empress.
Harrison and that new empress danced to the amazing music played by the unhandicapped musicians. They leaped, defied gravity, and kissed. Everyone thought that there would be no more handicaps.
Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General, came in with a gun and shot and killed. Harrison and the empress. She also ordered the musicians to get back on their handicaps or else they would be killed too.
Hazel was watching tv when Harrison and the ballerina got shot and she started crying, George heard her, but Hazel forgot why she was crying. She only remembered that something terrible had happened. They went back on to their old lives.
