- Miss S. is introduced and how she interacts with the towns people. She lives on Pleasant street. In the beginning, the town respects her, they see her as an advisor because her family did a lot for the town
- Climax
- Miss S. decides to write and deliver her “comforting letters” to the towns people. With these letters she thought she could save citizens from the cruelty of the world. She wrote letters because its not something she would say to their faces.
- Resolution
- At the grocery, Miss Strangeworth greets everybody and notices tiny details about her neighbors. she wonders if people have been taking care of themselves or if they have been spoiling thier kids too much. This is what leads to the letters.
- Denouement
- when Miss Strangeworth goes to the mail slot at the post office and accidentally drops one of her poison pen letters. Everybody will know and have some sort of proof that she is the author of the poison pen letters.
- The boy shows the letter to Linda. It was addressed to the Crane family with a new baby. After knowing what Miss S. said about their baby, the Cranes were so angry. So the citizens took revenge on Miss S. by cutting down her beloved roses.
- The story ended on a cliff hanger so it doesn't have a denouement
