- The pilgrims visit the Kabah in Mecca and walk around it 7 times. Muslims believe that it was built 4000 years ago by the prophet Ibraham and his son Ismail.
- Pilgrims run between the two mounts, Safa and Marwa as shown above, this action helps them to remember the important story of Hagar and her son Ishmail. Hagar and her son were left in the dessert without water, she was desperate to find some water for Ishmail. The history says that he dug his heels to the sand and a spring of water gushed forth.
- Pilgrims camp in Mina as they can't travel through all the places in a day.
- They throw stones at three stone pillars which symbolises the devil
- The pilgrims travel to Arafat and spend the Whole day in prayer. After sunset they set off too Muzdalifah. There an animal sacrifice takes place and the men shave their heads and women cut their hair.
- And they finally return to Mecca and walk around the kabah 7 times. Once they have completed the whole ritual, they are given new titles, Hajji for men and Hajja for women.
