- Leon and Maria are about to return to Leon's village after their wedding.
- Baldotakes the reins after a short distance and abruptly changes course to the rocky road of Waig and the surrounding fields.
- They arrived at their home and were greeted by Leon's mother and sister.
- Baldo talked to his father about Maria.
- Their conversation was disturbed as the new couple entered to meet with Leon's father. Baldo leaves the room, giving them some space with the head of the family.
