I would love to, but we are only part-timers. I do not want to do anything that could go against store policy. If you ask our manager Jermey and he is alright with it, I would be glad to help!
Hey Geoff, I've noticed that there has been a homeless man sitting around the back of our restaurant for the past couple weeks. He looks very hungry and I want to give him some food from the kitchen. Do you want to help me?
Scene change to outside of the restaurant where a distressed homeless man is looking through the trash to find some food to eat.
I am going through a difficult time right now. I just wish I had a warm meal to eat to get me through the night.
NO. Giving leftover food away is strictly against store policy. Even if you pay for the food and give it to him, it is not allowed. We don't want more homeless people sitting outside of our restaurant, It is bad for the company.
Hey Jeremy. I've noticed there is a homeless man that has been sitting around the back of our restaurant. I was wondering if we could give him some leftover food from the kitchen?
I am now put in a difficult situation where I want to follow my own beliefs and abide by my personal values and give the struggling man some food. However, a figure of authority is telling me to do the opposite.
I want to give the homeless man left over food because it aligns with morals and beliefs as a human person. However, I could get in big trouble and even lose my job. Working part time is extremely important to me and I do not want to make my boss mad. Should I break the rules and give the man food? or look out for my best interests and listen to my boss?
Thank you so much for understanding Amy! You are truly an asset to this workplace. Thank you for caring.
Thats alright Jermey! I love my job and would not want to do anything that could hurt the resturant business. I will not give the man leftover food.
Hey Amy! What did Jermey say? Are we going to prepare some food for the homeless man?
Unfortunately, giving leftover food away is against store policy. However, it is alright. I wouldn't want to make Jeremy or the business mad. Although it is not what I would like to do, it is what I should do because it is what our boss told us to do.
