- one evening ,a teacher from a village wanted to cross the river to meet his brother on the other side .he saw a boatman and yelled to him.
- Teacher : Can you take me across the river ? Boatman : Yes sir , hop into the boat ." the boatman started rowing and singing along .they were approaching the middle of the river .""the teacher was also in a happy mood so he decide to chat with the boatman."
- Teacher : so, did you read the paper today ?Who win the match ?Boatman: No, sir i don't know how to read , I find it kind of hard . Teacher : How foolish ! A quarter of your life is wasted. After sometime the teacher began to feel really hot. So he asked the boatman . Isn't hot ? what time is it ? Boatman : Sir, i don't have a watch and also don't know how to read the time .Teacher : What ? Didn't you ever go to school ? this is bad . I think half your life has been wasted .
- Teacher continues : OK ! so what do you do when you go home after work ? watch some t.v. ? Did you see that music programme , isn't it great !Boatman : No sir, i don't watch the progrmme because i don't have a T.V. I don't have money to buy one . it is so expensive .Teacher: Mr. boatman that you have not go to the school,you don't know how to read the time and you don't even a watch T.V. three fourth of your life is wasted ! you have not enjoyed life at all !!
- "soon it started raining and the poor boatman could not get hold his boat , the oar slipped away from his hand . The boatman and the teacher were frightened ."Boatman : Sir, we got to swim now , the boat is going to sink . Teacher: Oh my god ! But i don't know how to swim ! Boatman : That is too bad sir because then you will drown and your whole life will be a waste !
- The boatman knew swimming so he jumped into the river and swam away . but the teacher didn't know how to swim so he sank along with the boat .
