In South Africa there is a major water scarcity. Women have to spend their whole days traveling around 5 hours to and from water wells and other sources to bring back water to their families for the week. After traveling to the water source they don't always get water, the source might run out before they can get any leaving them with no water for the week and a wasted day.
The Rwanda Genocide was a massive bloody genocide that started April 7, 1994, and ended in July 1994 exactly 100 days long. Thousands and thousands of people were killed. Bodies lined the streets and towns were destroyed. The genocide started when the Hutu's leaders plane was shot down and a few hours later the Hutu's started the genocide. The Hutu's were out to kill the Tutsi's for shooting down the plane. We still don't know who exactly shot the plane down each group of people blaming each other. Many Hutu's were arrested after the genocide and they didn't exactly have court trials since there would be too many and cost too much. Some Tutsi have forgiven the Hutu's while many haven't.
In South Africa, there is something called Conflict Diamonds. These are diamonds that are being sold out to most people who live outside of Africa and the money is used to supply weapons for wars going on. The buyers usually never know what their money is being spent on. Another problem is that these diamonds are mostly being collected by child laborers who slave away in the dangerous mines. Another similar problem in South Africa is child soldiers. Many children are being forced to become soldiers and kill others to avoid being killed themselves. They are given guns and drugs before being sent out. Many organizations are helping to take children out of the areas and into centers that will help them.
